UPDATED 5:45 p.m.:

ORIGINAL STORY: CHP officials tell KION they are currently in the process of chasing a vehicle on Highway 101.

The chase began in King City when officials tried to pull over a gray sedan with paper plates for a routine traffic stop. The person did not stop and officers began pursuing the vehicle.

CHP deployed spike strips, which were unsuccessful and they say they are now working to perform a “felony stop.” The vehicle is coming from Gonzales heading into Salinas.

KION has a crew on the way and will bring you the latest details as they become available.
