Sale of Mann Packing to Florida company

Mann Packing Company of Salinas has been sold to Del Monte Fresh Produce of Florida. The purchase price is $361-million dollars. Mann Packing was established in 1939 and based in Salinas, California. It is a leading grower and supplier of fresh vegetables in North America. The sale — announced early Tuesday morning — is expected to be completed before the end of March. KION spoke to Gina Nucci of Mann Packing this morning, here’s what she had to say.

“Del Monte Fresh knows our business well. They primarily do fruit, so they are getting into the veggie business. We will keep the Mann Packing name and it will be a division of Del Monte Fresh North America. There will be no layoffs and this is a total positive,” said Mann Packing Director of Corporate Marketing Gina Nucci.
