Unlucky night for Santa Cruz man pulled over for traffic violations

California Highway Patrol Santa Cruz officers arrested a Santa Cruz man on weapons and drug charges after initially stopping him for a traffic violation.

CHP first stopped Steve Anthony Gallegos, 35, in Live Oak on East Cliff Drive after noticing his ’94 Toyota Corolla didn’t have two license plates and then observed illegal drugs inside his car.

The man ran off before police could detain him. However CHP quickly caught up to him and arrested him at 11.35pm last night.

Gallegos was booked into the county jail and the drugs and weapons were taken off the streets.
