Would you like a glove with that?
It wasn’t a great start to dinner for a Salinas man dining at Five Guys Salinas for a birthday dinner on Tuesday night and was served a glove with his burger.
Norberto Franklin Escobar of Salinas says he was shocked to find an employee’s glove encased within his hamburger. When he mentioned it to staff he said there was laughter but no employee wanted to accept the responsibility of placing the glove in the burger.
Instead, Escobar said one of the employees said, “Do you want me to take the glove out or do you want me to make a new burger?”
“I was shocked they would even ask me that. They made a new burger but to be honest i didn’t feel I could eat it after that,” Escobar said.
Norberto said after a couple of attempts at contacting the Five Guys corporate complaints line a manager reached out to him.
“The manager said they would give me a gift card and since it was my daughter’s third birthday said they would reach out and organize another visit where they would give us VIP treatment but really I think I just want my money back,” he said.
KION also reached out to Five Guys complaint line and were told they had made another burger for Escobar on the evening of the incident and would give him a gift card but didn’t specify the exact value of the card.
“I would prefer to get my money back. I spent $36.49 that night and want a refund in preference to eating any more burgers from there,” Norberto said.
