Gilroy teacher accused of sex with underage female student

A teacher at Gilroy Early College Academy is accused of having sex with an underage female student during the 2014-2015 school year, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said William Dawson, 32, of Los Gatos is facing seven felony charges for developing a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl. Those charges include lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, unlawful sex with a minor and a a count of harmful matter sent to seduce a minor.

Dawson was arrested Wednesday night and taken to the Santa Clara County Main Jail. He was released after posting bail and the sheriff’s office said his mugshot cannot be released.

The investigation started in November 2016 and the sheriff’s office said it is still ongoing.
