Storm clean-up on major roads creating traffic
Traffic on Hwy 68 is moving at a snail’s pace and sometimes not even at all as crews work to fix a mess left behind by recent storms between Quail Ridge Lane and Corral de Tierra.
“I was late to work because there was traffic,” said Morgan Gonzalez.
Caltrans said its one way traffic only so they can work around the clock to remove the damaged 80-foot-long culvert and put in new soil.
“Recently we just found a thick piece of concrete,” said Bertha Roman with Caltrans . “So we thought it was gonna take three days but now it may take five days, weather permitting.”
Flooding has cut off traffic on Davis Road between Blanco and Reservation, a main route leading to Monterey and Marina.
“It’s definitely an inconvenience for the people around here,” said Byron J ames.
San Miguel Canyon through Prunedale is also seeing its fair share of delays.
“It took me four hours to get out of Prunedale , four hours,” said Cody Read of Prunedale .
High water, trees, and lines down along with repair work is adding more time to travel. PG&E is asking drivers to be patient.
“We try to work as fast as we can, as safe as we can,” said Colton Baker with PG&E.
