Arrest made in car crash turned homicide in Salinas from 2021

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV)-  UPDATE ON NOV. 3 AT 3:19 PM: Salinas Police said they arrested a man concerning a homicide that occurred on Dec. 13, 2021, at the intersection of Nacional Court and Clark Street.

Jesus Hernandez Tejeda, 35, was already in Monterey County Jail on an unrelated charge. He is suspected of killing Christopher Shaun Conner while in the car with him.

This revelation was made after re-examining evidence and new leads. Tejada was charged on Halloween with the murder of Christopher Conner by the Monterey County District Attorney's Office.

ORIGINAL STORY

Salinas Police said they are investigating a homicide originally reported as a traffic collision on Monday on Nacional Court and Clark Street.

After 6 p.m., police said that the victim was found dead in the vehicle with gunshot wounds when they arrived. The victim was 43-year-old Christopher Shaun Conner, according to officials.
