Residents in Carmel Valley see waist deep floodwaters

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office issued a voluntary evacuation for residents on Paso Hondo Road early Wednesday morning.

The Carmel River breached the levee around 12:00 A.M. A backwards 911 call went out to those living in the area and deputies went door-to-door helping with the evacuation. “There were about ten homes affected and two to three feet of water,” said Monterey County Sergeant Alex Aguayo. A Red Cross Shelter was set up at Carmel Middle School.
