Rescue: Woman pulled from creek in Santa Cruz

Fire rescue crews pulled a woman from Branciforte Creek in Santa Cruz on Monday night.

According to the Santa Cruz Fire Department, the woman, whose name was not released, was in approximately three feet of water when firefighters arrived at the creek behind 533 Ocean Street around 9:00 p.m.

Rescuers threw a rope to the victim and put three rescue swimmers in the water. The victim was moved downstream, where she was placed in a basket and hoisted from the water by an aerial ladder truck.

The woman was taken away by ambulance, and later transported by helicopter to a Bay Area hospital.

No injuries to firefighters were reported.
