UPDATE: Highway 101 now open after flooding closure

UPDATE 1/9/17 5:24 AM: All lanes of Highway 101 are now back open.

PREVIOUS STORY: Heavy rain and flooding has forced Highway 101 to shut down.

All lanes are closed in both directions from Highway 25 to Monterey Road, south of Gilroy.

According to California Highway Patrol officials, there is up two feet of water flooding the lanes.

There is currently no estimated time of re-opening.
