SPCA: Protect pets during bad weather

While some Central Coast residents are busy filling sandbags and clearing brush from drainage areas, the SPCA for Monterey County is urging everyone to remember to protect their pets and animals during the upcoming weekend storm.

Heavy rain and wind are expected, and forecasters say there is the potential for downed trees, power loss and localized flooding.

The SPCA suggested pet owners plan ahead, and prepare for possible evacuations. Disaster kits should include food and water and supplies such as leashes, halters, blankets, beds and bowls. Anyone who is unable to take pets or animals to safety should contact the SPCA for assistance.
