Storm prep: Sandbags, sand available in Santa Cruz
In preparation for this weekend’s storm, the City of Santa Cruz announced Thursday that it is offering free sandbags and sand to city residents and business owners. The free sandbags can be picked up at two locations:
— Fire Administration Office
230 Walnut Ave.
Monday-Thursday
8 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 – 4 p.m.
— Corporation Yard
1125 River St. Office 6A
Monday-Friday
8 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 – 4 p.m.
Free sand to fill the bags is provided at:
— Harvey West Park
326 Evergreen St. at the entrance to the parks yard, opposite Evergreen Cemetery.
Residents are advised to bring a shovel.
