UPDATE: Two arrested in Marina State Beach murder case
UPDATE 12/23/2015 11:12 AM: Two suspects have been arrested in the killing of a 52-year-old man at Marina State Beach on December 12, according to police. Francisco Aguayo’s body was found on the beach.
Marina police said Daniel Petty, 22, and Scotty Johnson, 18, were arrested after investigators identified them as suspects. Petty is charged with murder and Johnson is charged with being an accessory to the murder.
Investigators said Aguayo’s murder doesn’t appear to be gang related.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Marina Police Department said the body found in an area north of Marina State Beach over the weekend was a “victim of foul play.”
The victim has been identified as Francisco Aguayo, 52, of Salinas. Police said Aguayo had been reported missing by the Salinas Police Department.His body was discovered north of Dunes Drive Saturday just before 9:30 a.m.
Aguayo suffered mulitple physical traumatic injuries, police said.
The case is being investigated as a homicide. An autopsy to determine the cause of death is pending.
