Hollister native serving aboard the USS New Orleans

A San Benito High School graduate is now serving our country aboard the USS New Orleans.

The ship is one of the Navy’s newest and most advanced amphibious ships designed to deliver Marines and their equipment to and from war zones.

Hollister Native Adrienne Jones is a boatswain’s mate on the ship. Jones graduated from San Benito High School in 2005.

The 27-year-old said she is learning about herself as a leader, sailor and person. Jones also said she looks forward to helping her junior sailors be as successful as they can be.

There is another sailor from Soledad on the same ship.

The 427 member crew aboard the USS New Orleans will be protecting and defending American on the world’s oceans.
