Officer in motorcycle accident 10-year vet with dept.

A California Highway Patrol officer was thrown more than 20 feet off of his motorcycle in a traffic accident in Marina on Tuesday. A spokesman for the agency says the officer involved is a 40-year-old, 10-year veteran of the Monterey CHP office. The officer sustained major injuries, including a broken rib, according one of our sources.

The collision happened on northbound Highway 1 on the Del Monte off-ramp when a 79-year-old man was making a left turn.
