Rocklin company recalls Sausage product for mislabeling

Katadyn North American Foods is recalling approximately 2,719 pounds of spicy sausage products due to a labeling issue. U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service found the issue in a routine inspection.

The Spicy Sausage Pasta products were produced on various dates from June 14 – November 13, 2014.

The Food Safety Inspection Service personnel review found the label indicates that the product contains beef, but is actually formulated with pork sausage. Pork is not indicated on the label.

The following products are subject to recall: 5 -oz. foil laminated pouches containing “ALPINEAIRE SPICY SAUSAGE PASTA.”

The product’s labels are posted here.

The recalled products bear the establishment number “EST. 8132” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS routinely conducts checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.

The retail locations will be listed on the FSIS website when available.

Consumers and media with questions about the recall can contact Tim Pratt, General Manager, at (800) 322-6325 x-15.
