Storm preps: Where you can get sandbags
Free sandbags are now available for residents in Monterey County at the nearest unincorporated area fire station. This as a powerful storm system is expected to hit the Central Coast Thursday.
Sand for sandbags is available for free to the public in unincorporated areas of Monterey County. The following is a list of locations where you can get free stockpiles of sand.
San Miguel Road District:
Bolsa Knolls: Cornwall Avenue at Little League park Castroville: Salinas Street at McDougall Pajaro: San Juan Road at Brooklyn Street, one block west of Porter Drive Ralph Lane at the end of Culdesac San Miguel Canyon Road near Hall Road Maintenance Yard from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Monterey Road District:
Big Sur Area: across from Pfeiffer Ridge Road Cachagua Road at Nelson Bridge Carmel Highlands Fire Department Carmel Valley Road at Garland Park Rio Road near Cal Fire Station Mid Valley Fire Station Palo Colorado Road Reservation Road near Portola Drive
