Salinas man flown to San Jose after being hit by car

A Salinas man was flown to a San Jose trauma center after being hit by a car on Market Street and North Sanborn Road. Tuesday night.

The victim was initially taken to a local hospital, but a California Shock Trauma Air Rescue Ambulance subsequently flew the victim out.

Sgt. Dana Cornelison with Salinas Police says the victim wasn’t in the crosswalk and that the driver didn’t appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

According to Cornelison, the driver was licensed and insured and was cooperating with the investigation. Cornelison didn’t expect any charges to be filed.

West Market Street was closed for about two hours as police investigated.
