Four shootings in one day in Salinas
Salinas Police are investigating four separate shootings on Saturday.
The first is an attempted murder near South Sanborn Road and Fairview Avenue at around 9:15a.m. Officers said one male was shot and wastaken to the hospital in stable condition. Witnesses reported seeing three suspects running from the area. Those suspects were also spotted by police, who were able to arrest all three.
Officers said all three are suspected gang members. One suspectis 14 years old and another is 17 years old.
Salinas Police said they are investigating a second attempted murder around 2:45p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Officers said it happened in the 1300 block of Cachuma Ct. The male victim was found inside a garage with two other people. Officers said two unknown Hispanic males walked into the garage and challenged the victim. Witnesses said the victim was shot and left the garage before officers arrived. Both suspects also left the scene. This incident is being investigated as gang-related.
Around 3:30p.m., Salinas Police said a victim of a shooting showed up at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. Officers said the victim reported being at Paseo Grande and Towt when he heard several gunshots and realized he’d been shot. Police said the victim went to a friend’s house and was later taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Officers said the victim denied he’d been involved in any other shooting and claimed to not be involved in a gang.
Policesaid the last shootinghappened in the 1100 block of Atlantic StreetSaturday evening. Officers said a Hispanic man and woman were shot while watchingTV with a third person inside a garage. That’s when twopeople, unknown to the victims, fired gunshots underneath the garage door that was partially open. Officers said the victims were taken tothe hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
