Suspect rams patrol cars near Morgan Hill
On Saturday, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department said a Morgan Hill man tried to use his car as a deadly weapon. This comes after an investigation into a report of a suspicious car on Esther Lake Drive early Saturday morning.
The sheriff’s department said the car suddenly rammed three patrol cars repeatedly while deputies were trying to get out of their cars. One deputy fired at least one shot toward the car as the suspect got away and ran on foot into the woods.
Deputies said the Sheriff Emergency Response Team was called out to search for the suspect. Hours later, the sheriff’s department said it found 42-year-old Michael Matagulay hiding in the woods nearby.
Matagulay was not hurt and was booked in jail. He faces multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder on a peace officer.
