Watsonville police investigating shots fired

Watsonville police are investigating a reported shooting on Sixth Street that occurred around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Sixth Street, but the victims and suspects had already fled.

Witnesses reported that two men in a Honda sedan approached two other men in a different car while they were parked outside a nearby apartment complex.

The two suspects asked the two victims if they were affiliated with a gang, and then one of the men brandished a firearm at the two victims. The victims drove away as one of the suspects fired multiple shots at the car. Police don’t believe anyone was struck by a shot, though one of the gunshots did enter through a nearby apartment. No one inside the residence was harmed.

The suspects and victims were not located. One of the suspects is described as a Latino man, roughly 28 to 30 years of age, about 210-220 pounds and wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should call the Watsonville Police Department Crime tipline at 728-3544.
