Public Safety Power Shutoffs begin in Santa Cruz County
(KION) UPDATE 10/25/20 10:49 P.M. Thousands of Santa Cruz County PG&E customers are without power Sunday night as PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoffs begin.
The shutoffs are impacting residents from Boulder Creek to Ben Lomond and other areas.
Power is expected to be restored on October 27.

Pacific Gas and Electric has announced that Public Safety Power Shutoffs have begun in targeted portions of California due to high winds and dry conditions.
During a PSPS, PG&E turns off power for public safety reasons when weather conditions threaten the system.
As of 4:00 p.m., portions of Northern California are already experiencing power outages. Parts of Santa Cruz County are still on standby for possible outages. County officials anticipate the outages will happen sometime between 8:00-10:00 p.m. Sunday night.
