Police: Santa Cruz teen arrested on gun charges while under the influence of drugs
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) A 16-year-old was arrested in Santa Cruz on multiple gun charges while police said he was under the influence of drugs.
Officers responded to reports of a teen with a gun sticking out of his waistband near Pacific and Laurel Thursday, and when they got to the area, police said they found him. While officers were there, they said he fired a shot inside an apartment into the floor.
Police were able to detain the teen and found a loaded handgun. Nobody was injured during that time.
When the teen was medically cleared, he was taken to Juvenile Hall on possession of a gun while under the influence of drugs, minor in possession of ammunition, possession of a high capacity magazine, possession of a gun without a serial number, minor in possession of a concealable gun and child endangerment charges.
