Monterey, Moss Landing harbor launch ramps reopened to recreational boaters
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) The Monterey Harbor and Moss Landing Harbor District announced that their launch ramps are reopening to recreational boaters.
They will be open starting Tuesday at 5 a.m. to recreational boaters for the first time since late March when Monterey County's Shelter in Place order took effect.
Boaters will have to obey some conditions, and those who do not obey them could mean a loss of ramp privileges or the closure of ramp facilities.
Users will be required to:
- Maintain six feet of distance from others.
- Wear face masks or coverings at all times in the parking lot or launch ramp.
- Not gather with people outside your own household.
- Not camp or bring RV's in the launch ramp parking lot.
- Not linger when launching or retrieving your vessel.
- Pay fees at the pay stations.
Monterey Harbor said it will not offer visitor berthing except for commercial fishing vessels and coastal cruising vessels looking for refuge.
“We are excited to reopen our facilities to recreational boaters, and are confident they will responsibly follow the public health requirements established by the Monterey County Public Health Director Dr. Moreno,” said Monterey Harbormaster John Haynes.
The launch ramps have been open for essential business only up to this point.
