Lovers Point Park Beach closed to public

PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (KION) Lovers Point Park Beach is closed until further notice, according to the Pacific Grove Police Department.

Officers posted the announcement on Facebook on Saturday, citing that people are ignoring social distancing rules at the beach. Police say they understand since the area is seeing nice weather, a lot of people want to head to the coast.

But they also say Lovers Point is not a big area, which makes social distancing hard.

Police say they have already issued verbal and written warnings to people who do not follow these rules. There were no citations issued prior to the closure, but officers say if you are caught breaking the closure rules, you may get one.
