Cloudy and much cooler
Cloudy and cooler conditions are on tap from Thursday through the weekend. Onshore winds are increasing as a weather system approaches from the north. The cool marine air will result in low clouds and fog and much cooler daytime highs.
On Friday, a few showers will be possible in the southern Gabilan range in Monterey and San Benito counties.
The weekend looks dry, with seasonably cool temperatures. A larger scale storm system will bring light to moderate rain to the region Monday.
High pressure will build back in quickly next week with highs expected to be above normal by Tuesday and Wednesday.
Thursday: Morning low clouds at the coast with scattered high clouds across the region. Temperatures will be much cooler, with coastal highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s and inland areas in the mid-60s to mid-70s. A few sprinkles of drizzle possible. Occasionally breezy at the coast.
Thursday night: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the mid-40s to low 50s in the coast and mid-30s to mid-40s for inland valleys and low 50s up in the hills.
Friday: Partly cloudy and cool. A few showers will be possible over the Gabilan range in southern Monterey and San Benito Counties. Daytime highs in the upper 50s to low 60s on the coast and mainly in the 60s inland.
Extended: Sky conditions will range from mostly clear to partly cloudy this weekend with seasonably cool high temperatures. A weather system will bring widespread rain to the region on Monday, though it doesn’t look all that heavy. After a cool-down Monday, temperatures will head back upward quickly Tuesday/Wednesday.
The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for April 23rd-29th calls for the likelihood of ABOVE normal temperatures and near normal precipitation.
