The Monterey County Sheriff's Office is reminding the public about changes to the noise ordinance.

The Monterey County Board of Supervisors passed and adopted an amended county ordinance on July 23, 2019, regarding regulated noise in the unincorporated areas of Monterey County.

The most notable changes are:

The night noise ordinance changed from 10 pm to 9 pm.
The noise detection standard is now "plainly audible" from 50 feet after 9 pm.

The Sheriff’s Office says officials will be enforcing this ordinance. They have already been providing residents with copies of the new ordinance and issuing citations to those in violation.
