Former Santa Cruz minister arrested for alleged sexual acts with a minor

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday that they have arrested 71-year-old Oscar Rodriguez for alleged sex-related offenses involving a minor about seven years ago.

They said that Rodriguez was served a search warrant and then arrested. According to deputies, he worked as a minister at a local church where children frequented.

Officials are now searching for more potential victims.

Deputies said that Rodriguez was arrested on multiple felony charges including lewd and lascivious acts with a child 14 or 15 years old, contact minor with intent to commit sex acts, and arranging to meet with a minor for lewd or lascivious acts.

This is an ongoing investigation and the sheriff's office is urging anyone who may have further information to contact dispatch at (831) 471-1121.
