Iowa Democrats release caucus results of 97% of precincts

UPDATE 2/6/2020 Iowa Democrats have released the caucus results of 97% of its precincts.

The candidates stand as follows:

  • Pete Buttigieg 26.2%
  • Bernie Sanders 26.1%
  • Elizabeth Warren 18.2%
  • Joe Biden 15.8%
  • Amy Klobuchar 12.2%

According to CNN, Pete Buttigieg is currently leading with 26.9% of state delegates, followed by Sen. Bernie Sanders with 25.1% and Sen. Elizabeth Warren with 18.3%. Former Vice President Joe Biden came in fourth with 15.6%.

Officials said they were not able to release results Monday evening because of a "coding error in one of the pieces on the backend," but said the data is secure and that they have been working day and night to make sure the results are accurate.

"The reporting of the results and circumstances surrounding the 2020 Iowa Democratic Party caucuses were unacceptable," Iowa Democratic Party Chair Troy Price said at a news conference. "As chair of the party, I apologize deeply for this."

Price said there will be a thorough and independent review.
