Things to know about the Karen Read murder case, which has ended in a mistrial

Associated Press

DEDHAM, Mass. (AP) — A judge has declared a mistrial after jurors deadlocked in the case of a woman accused of killing her Boston police officer boyfriend by striking him with her SUV and leaving him in a snowstorm. A jury foreperson had told the judge Friday in the case of Karen Read that they hadn’t reached a unanimous verdict despite an “exhaustive review of the evidence.” The judge told jurors to keep trying. Jurors said Monday they were at an impasse and that it would be futile to continue deliberating. The judge then declared a mistrial.
