Salinas native signs with San Jose Earthquakes II

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KION-TV)- A Salinas native will be realizing his boyhood dream of becoming a professional soccer player.

Former San Jose State defender Joel Garcia has signed with San Jose Earthquakes II in the MLS Next Pro League.

Garcia played for San Jose State from 2020 to 2023 in which he played 41 matches and started in 33 of those matches.

The Alisal High School alum had six career goals and two assists at fullback.

He is now the third Spartan to sign a pro contract joining his teammates Bo Leroux and Isaac Lomeli.
