CHP is investigating a fatal crash near Marina Tuesday morning

MARINA, Calif. (KION-TV) - CHP confirmed a solo fatal crash on Southbound Highway 1 at Del Monte Boulevard. The crash happened around 3:29 a.m. on Tuesday. CHP is still investigating the cause of the crash.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim in the crash as 35-year-old Victor Ruiz of Seaside.

The crash forced the closure of Southbound Highway 1, with traffic being diverted at Reservation Road for three hours following the crash. This closure was cleared and the Highway reopened just before 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
