Cold Front on the Way

Temps headed downward today! With mainly clear skies, today will be another pleasant day. After midweek, a rare August cold front will sweep in for late week and we'll see a return of low stratus clouds in the coastal areas and nearby valleys. Winds are expected to turn quite gusty beginning late Thursday. This system in the Pacific Northwest will slide southward along with the cold front and also bring a chance of rain mostly for areas north of the viewing area, but we will see cooler temps, clouds and gusty winds Friday and Saturday.

AIR QUALITY: Good

Wednesday: More sunshine but slightly cooler. Highs at coast mid to upper 60s and inland mainly mid to upper 70s and 80s.

Thursday: AM clouds and slight chance for drizzle in coastal areas with sunshine by the afternoon. Sunny inland. Breezy with increasing clouds late. Highs in low to mid 60s coastal and 70s to 80s inland.

Extended: Temps will continue to trend downward through Saturday with marine layer returning at coast and even spreading inland into the nearby valleys. Winds will turn gusty especially Friday and Saturday with light precipitation possible mainly in coastal areas. Then a warmup as we head into next week. So expect more coastal clouds and those cooler temps through Saturday. Some gusty winds, low stratus clouds, fog/drizzle at the coast will return as well. However, the cooldown will be short lived. We'll warm up again next week.
