Fire Weather Returns

Air Quality Report (As of 8:00AM)
Good

The weather pattern will remain progressive with the next system sliding by on Thursday, increasing clouds and winds briefly. Temperatures will likely take a bit of a dip Thursday/Friday. Then, high pressure will build in for the weekend with much warmer, dryer weather expected. Fire danger will also be on the increase with the potential for offshore winds.

Rest of Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a few low clouds on the coast late. Warmer, with coastal highs in the upper 60s to around 80ºF—warmest on the north side of the bay—and 80s to around 97ºF inland. Breezy for inland valleys and in the higher terrain in the afternoon and early evening.

Thursday: Expect more cloud coverage on Thursday morning and slightly cooler temperatures during the day. It will still be seasonable, however, with coastal highs in the 60s-70s and 80s-90s inland. Breezy at times during the afternoon and evening.

Extended: Cooling will continue on Friday under mostly sunny skies, then temperatures will head upward into the weekend with most areas peaking on Sunday/Monday. Hot, dry conditions expected with offshore winds possible over the ridgetops. The winds will be stronger in the bay area, but may bleed down into the Central Coast as well.

*Fire Weather Watch*
The National Weather Service in Monterey has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the Diablo Range in Santa Clara County from Saturday morning through Monday morning.

Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph on Saturday will increase Saturday night into Sunday morning with frequent gusts 40 to 50 mph.

Lowering humidity on Saturday to less than 25% with little or no humidity recovery Saturday night. RH values staying steady from 10-20% Sunday into early next week.

Any fires that develop will spread rapidly in the hot, dry and windy weather.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings.
