WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Watsonville Fire Department issues a shelter-in-place order on Friday for residents on Riverside Drive between Union and Lincoln streets because of a gas line rupture.

PG&E said in a Facebook post Friday evening, that the affected road may reopen around 6 p.m.

The fire department is going door-to-door in order to notify residents, they said in a Facebook post.

"Traffic in both directions on Riverside Drive between Union and Lincoln streets will remain closed for several hours," according to the Watsonville Police Department.

Friday morning, the unmarked gas line was damaged during the Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency College Lake Water Supply Project construction, according to police.
