Orioles top prospect Gunnar Henderson homers in MLB debut

CLEVELAND (AP) — Gunnar Henderson quickly turned his major league debut into a success. The Baltimore Orioles’ top prospect homered Wednesday night against Cleveland for his first big league hit. Henderson took the Guardians’ Triston McKenzie deep to right-center field in the fourth inning. His homer traveled an estimated 429 feet. The 21-year-old Henderson was called up from the minors earlier in the day. Henderson is the game’s No. 1 prospect according to Baseball America. He joins a Baltimore team that is three games out of the final wild card in the American League. Henderson was a second-round draft pick in 2019. His stock his risen significantly this season.
