Burnley boosts PL survival hopes with win over Southampton

BURNLEY, England (AP) — Burnley has improved its chances of staying in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Southampton in the team’s first home game since the surprise firing of Sean Dyche as manager. Burnley earned just its fifth league win of the season after first-half goals from defenders Connor Roberts and Nathan Collins to move within one point of safety, though 17th-place Everton has played one less game.
