Friday night doubleheader kicks off first round of CCS Football Playoffs

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) - On the first night of the CCS Playoffs, Rabobank Stadium hosted not one but two games featuring local high school football teams.

In the early game, North Salinas and Leigh went the distance.

Despite finding the endzone three times, the game ultimately came down to a missed two-point conversion by the Vikings. It led to a heartbreaking loss as Leigh advanced to the semifinals with a 21-20 win over North Salinas.

In the late game, Palma and Hollister met in a highly anticipated rematch.

Back in September, the Chieftains outlasted the Haybalers in overtime to win 31-30. In their second meeting, Palma took control of the game early and never looked back. The Chieftains advanced to the second round with a 38-10 win over Hollister. Palma will now face Menlo Atherton in the semifinals.
