Battle of the Bay closes out high school football regular season
SEASIDE, Calif. (KION) - As the high school football regular season comes to an end, Monterey and Seaside closed out the slate with the Battle of the Bay. The Dores dominated, winning 50-13 to increase their all-time series lead over the Spartans.
Monterey entered the matchup having won two of its last three showdowns, however, Seaside came in with the better record.
The Spartans struck first thanks to Jamari Vaughns who scored the first touchdown of the game off a quarterback keeper, but from there, the Dores took over. Led by Preston White, Monterey proceeded to take the lead and never look back winning by 37 points.
Both teams moved to 7-3 overall.
Monterey and Seaside will continue their campaigns into the postseason. The Dores will travel to face Sacred Heart Prep while the Spartans will also be on the road at Palo Alto.
