Local physician competing for cover of Muscle & Fitness HERS Magazine

MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) - During the day, you can find Nesreen Khraisha at CHOMP or Mee Memorial Hospital where she is an internal medicine and infectious disease specialist. After work, you can find her at the gym.

Khraisha has been working out since she was young and says she continues to work out because she enjoys it so much.

"You have to prioritize your health and make time for what you enjoy," Khraisha said.

After seeing a post pop up on her Facebook page, Khraisha is now competing to be on the cover of Muscle & Fitness HERS Magazine. Khraisha has already advanced to the quarterfinals.

“Even if I don’t win this, the support of the community has been the most amazing part of this journey," Khraisha said, "It truly has been worth the whole thing.”

If she wins, Khraisha will earn $20,000 and become the first female M.D. to be featured on the cover of a fitness magazine. She already has plans for those winnings.

"I am going to donate the proceeds to the people who helped me win," Khraisha said.
