SCOTT FREELS

Statement:

  • As a lifelong and 5th generation resident of the City of San JuanBautista, I am dedicated to the City we call home. I’m running for CityCouncil for one more term because major projects for essential services that impact our quality of life need to be seen through. Completing the water and sewer pipeline projects to improve our systems and comply with State and Federal law, continued backing of our Senior Center, and supporting local businesses by treating them as partners are important to me. Having been a Firefighter my entire adult life, public service comes naturally. My commitment to the City of San Juan Bautista began at age 12 with the Fiesta Rodeo Committee, then for the SJB Volunteer Fire Department 27 years (1983-2010). I also coached Little League.
  • Experience counts. As a Councilmember and as Fire Chief I’ve worked closely with elected officials and partner agencies in San Benito County.
  • I understand city government. I’ve been on Council for 4 years and am currently the mayor. I represent San Juan regionally on the Council of San Benito County Governments and the Fire Protection Committee. Quality of life, public safety, water, sewer and other critical needs will continue to be my focus.
