PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (KION-TV)- The City of Pacific Grove is looking to deter birds from landing and nesting on buildings and rooftops.

City officials said it is the western gulls creating the nuisance for people. The gulls leaves feces droppings on rooftops and sidewalks.

One deterrent being considered are a row of spikes pointing vertically upwards.

The spikes are intended to make it difficult for larger birds to land and perch.

The city says this will allow them to keep rooftops clean from contaminants that could enter the storm drain plus reduces the need for rooftop cleaning.
