GREENFIELD, Calif. (KION-TV) - Talks of a building moratorium will continue in the city of Greenfield, with some exceptions to the moratorium set for discussion on Tuesday.

With the ordinance, the city of Greenfield will not issue any building permits that may impact Greenfield's wastewater system until the ordinance is repealed.

Yet, there will be some exceptions to the ordinance for some projects in the work, as stated in a memorandum to the Greenfield City Council.

This includes:

  • Possess a valid building permit on the date the ordinance is in effect
  • Projects with a valid court order requiring completion of said project
  • Construction that is necessary for repair or maintenance during the Wastewater Treatment Plant Project
  • Grant-funded project where funding eligibility will be compromised if permits are not issued
  • Construction that is necessary for immediate preservation of health and safety of the public

The city says this pause on building is necessary because the wastewater treatment plant is dated and needs improvements. Otherwise, they risk further damage down the road.
