Wrong Way Driver Shuts down SB HWY 101 for Hours Wednesday
CHUALAR, Calif. (KION-TV) - CHP has confirmed that a wrong-way driver crash on Highway 101 near Chualar has forced a full closure of southbound lanes. It happened just before 9 pm on Wednesday night, a multi-car pile-up forcing that closure. All lanes were reopened hours later at 2:20 am.
CHP says the wrong-way driver crashed into 2 other vehicles, the driver getting pinned inside their vehicle. They had to be extracted by fire crews before being taken to the hospital with major injuries. One other person involved in the crash was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
