DEL REY OAKS, Calif. (KION) -- A rabid bat has been found in Del Rey Oaks this week.

According to the Del Rey Oaks Police Department, a bat tested positive for the rabies virus.

Hitchcock Road Animal Services helped with an incident near the 100 block of Carlton Drive, where an owned pet was exposed to the virus.

Authorities said the pet has since been placed under quarantine.

Del Rey Oaks Police are using this as a reminder that all domestic animals are at risk for rabies and should be up to date on their vaccinations.
