New Encampment Resolution Fund highlights unhoused support
SOLEDAD, Calif. (KION-TV) -- More than 30 people have received support from Soledad's Encampment Resolution Fund.
The grant is meant to serve those living alongside the Soledad riverbed providing services, motel vouchers and addressing health concerns.
95 tons of trash and debris have been removed from the riverbed with the aid of Soledad Public Works.
Since February, the city has teamed with the non-profit organization Step Up to create a Motel Voucher Program that will help unhoused people go from homelessness to temporary living situations.
Nine people have received support from the voucher program.
Another aspect of that collaboration is providing a case management service with 27 people now serviced.
An interim housing project is being constructed for up to 16 people to live temporarily and is expected to operate by the summer of this year.
