Baby squirrels now under SPCA care due to tree trimming
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Seven squirrels are under the care of SPCA Monterey County Wildlife Center after their respective homes were lost due to tree trimming.
According to the SPCA, the squirrels came from different trees that held their nests. While not every baby squirrel survived the fall, the ones that did are now being cared for.
Before arriving, the finders had feed the squirrels cow's milk which can be fatal to baby squirrels.
A baby hummingbird is also under the SPCA's care.
SPCA is saying that community members can help wildlife by avoiding trimming during baby and nesting season, calling SPCA when wildlife is in need, and not to attempt to feed rescued wild animals.
Anyone that sees an animal harmed or in need of rescue is asked to call SPCA Monterey at 831-264-5427.
