New park in development at Carr Lake in Salinas

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- A major central park project is coming to Carr Lake in Salinas a new project that aims to bring the community together.

Big Sur Land Trust is constructing the new Ensen Community Park at Carr Lake.

The six-acre park will have a playground, basketball court, barbecue, picnic, skate and dog parks.

Once the park is complete, the Big Sur Land Trust will transfer ownership to the City of Salinas's Recreation & Park Services.

The total cost of the park's construction will be $15 million.

This park is part of the first phase of the Carr Lake Restoration and Park Development Project.

The next phase involves creating a 67-restoration area featuring seasonal wetlands, habitat for wildlife, and trails.
