Salinas man arrested on drug charges after slow-speed pursuit

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- A man was arrested in Salinas Saturday morning on drug charges after attempting an escape via a slow-speed pursuit during a traffic stop.

Salinas Police's Violence Suppression Task Force (VSTF) served a search warrant as they investigated a person selling cocaine and Xanax. After seeing the suspect leave his home in a Toyota Camry, they stopped him along Boronda Road and N. Main Street.

The suspect did not come to a complete stop and instead led VSTF officers on a slow-speed pursuit.

VSTF officers ended the pursuit after using a PIT maneuver on Rita and E. Bolivar Streets.

The suspect was arrested and sent to Monterey County Jail on drug charges.
