Grimmway Farms

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Grimmway Farms is issuing a recall on multiple sizes and brands of bagged organic baby and whole carrots.

The recall is due to an e. coli outbreak that has so far sickened 39 people and resulted in one death.

The company says Baby Organic Carrots with a best-if-used-by date ranging from 9/11/2024 to 11/12/2024 are being recalled and includes the following brands:

  • 365, Bunny Luv, Cal-Organic, Compliments, Full Circle, Good & Gather, GreenWise, Grimmway Farms, Marketside, Nature's Promise, O-Organic, President's Choice, Raley's, Simple Truth, Sprouts, Trader Joe's, Wegmans, Wholesome Pantry

Grimmway also says Whole Organic Carrot brands with dates from 8/14/2024 to 10/23/2024 are also being recalled, including the following:

According to the CDC, Washington saw eight people sickened as a result of this incident, the highest among all states, including Minnesota (5), New York (5) and California (3).

It's unclear where the individual who died as a result of this outbreak was living at at the time of their passing.

The CDC and Grimmway Farms is asking people not to eat any recalled bagged organic carrots and to check your fridge or freezer for the products and throw them away.

They also stress the products are likely no longer in stores for sale but might still be in your home.

Severe E. coli symptoms:

  • Diarrhea and a fever higher than 102°F
  • So much vomiting that you cannot keep liquids down
  • Signs of dehydration - includes not peeing much, dry mouth and throat or feeling dizzy when standing up

The CDC says symptoms usually start 3 to 4 days after swallowing the bacteria, but most people recover after 5 to 7 days.
